AFAIK
there is stacking and tiling window managers
Budgie is (from hearsay) a “normal” stacking WM.
Some WM’s can made to behave like tiling WM’s.

Question is (I guess).
what is it that you actually want?

Comparison of tiling window managers - ArchWiki

How can I uninstall Budgie and install a different desktop environment because I wish to switch desktop environments?

You really don’t need to remove one to install another. Just install the DE of your choice and select it at login. You could always remove it all later if you choose.

IDK - uninstall Budgie and install another one?
It’s probably better to do it the other way around - in order to not pull out the rug under your feet, so to say … :nerd_face:

@eriefisher

Thank you sir

I like having a secondary DE/WM installed as a back up. For me it’s usually Fluxbox. Fast, light and simple.

@eriefisher

Hey, I like this option since the window managers stack. and this is the URL; however, will there be any problems seeing that this is an open box?

https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Install_Desktop_Environments

One thing I would mention though is if you install multiple full on desktop environments your menus will tend to get cluttered. All of the applications these DE’s bring will show up. Especially if you have a full KDE and Gnome install. It can be messy but it functions fine.

got an error

sudo pacman -S oblogout obconf lxappearance-obconf-gtk3 obmenu openbox-themes-extra
error: target not found: oblogout
error: target not found: obmenu

I’d have to look into openbox to see what’s involved but I don’t recomend Openbox. Fluxbox is very similar and more user friendly.
