Workspace chaos after restart

Ugh, I’m seriously annoyed with the new KDE 6.5.3 / Wayland setup.

Before, it was already frustrating in my multi-monitor setup: After every restart, I had to re-sort all windows on the desktop.

And now? Now I also have to re-sort all icons and folders on the desktop on top of that.

Please don’t misunderstand, this is not a complaint against the Manjaro team

I don’t like this “Brave New KDE Age”…

I once liked Gnome very much.
Then it became cumbersome to customize it and keep that state across growing versions.
Then it became even more unintuitive and cumbersome to do basic customisations.
Then I abandoned it and went for Xfce4 - or even just window managers like OpenBox (Bunsenlabs, based upon Debian, is a good example).

Use what works - if it doesn’t, use something else.

Sometimes, for those who have reached Trust Level 2 (Member Level) on the forum, it is worth checking the This Week in Plasma - updates thread - 2025 edition before posting. This issue was mentioned in the latest post:

So, hopefully the issue should no longer occur after you update to Plasma 6.5.4.
