Hello @Gizm and welcome
In general a pgp siginature is used to verify that a text or a file comes from the correct owner and was not manipulated.
Couldn’t help myself:
explain to me a PGP SIGNATURE like I’m 5
Alright, imagine you have a secret message that you want to send to your friend, and you want to make sure they know it’s really from you and hasn’t been changed by someone else. It’s like when you draw a special picture, and you want to show your friend that it’s really yours.
Now, instead of showing them the whole picture, you take a small sticker with your unique mark on it and stick it on the back of the drawing. This special sticker is like your PGP signature. When your friend gets the drawing, they can look at the sticker and say, “Oh, this must be from my friend because I see their special mark on the sticker.” And if someone else tries to change the drawing, your friend will notice because the sticker won’t match anymore.
So, a PGP signature is like a special sticker that shows your friend a message is really from you and hasn’t been messed with by anyone else.
