Black screen on logout forcing reboot

I’ve looked at other posts that seem to be similar, but are not the same problem, and not on the same version of KDE. Also, I tried changing “KillUserProcesses=no” to “yes”. Either way my screen goes blank after logging out, no logging in involved. The monitor then keeps switching inputs (HDMI1,HDMI2) looking for a signal, but nothing doing. I have to reboot. This is on a recently installed (I think 01/23/2021) system. System info:

Do you have the same experience with 510 or 54?
(59 will no longer be updated latest is now 510 or 54 LTS)

Haven’t tried 510 or 54. I guessing that you suggest I try. I’ll get back after trying. Thanks.

I tried other kernels, to no avail. I don’t think it’'s a kernel problem. More likely KDE or SDDM. Any other suggestions? Anyone?

Is this not the place to get support? If not, can you point me at the proper place?

I am using the 5.4.89 kernel and I have the same exact problem. At first I thought it was the Nouveau drivers that I am using.

I tried the command chvt 1 after pressing ctl+alt+F2.
Also tried sudo sddm and just sddm.

That does not help either.

I found this, which seems to have fixed it for me: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/kde-hangs-on-splash-screen-when-logging-in-after-logout/39166/14?u=zeddie
Thanks wojtosla!

I tried downgrading sddm, as per a suggestion. That did not help. I think I will wait until the big update coming soon. Annoying, but not urgent for me as I rarely have a need to log out.
