Will GUI system updater also update processor microcode?

Hello,

I have some issues with sudden reboots. Since my Intel processor was often negatively mentioned in the news, and I’m new to Manjaro and Linux, I have looked here for some easy fixes.

According to this, it seems I should update the Intel microcode:

Unfortunately, it isn’t clear to me if this is something that needs to be handled manually via terminal, or does the Manjaro gui system updater take care of it?

Thank you,
Dan

Welcome to the Manjaro Community!

As far as I’m aware, microcode etc. is all included in the regular System Updates. :smiley:

However, it won’t hurt to first check that it’s installed;

pacman -Qs intel-ucode

and then install it, if it isn’t:

sudo pacman -S intel-ucode

A reboot will be required. :eyes:

From this point onwards, the microcode package should be updated when necessary, during a normal sync/update.

Regards.
