WiFi Working But Saying Limited Connection

Hi guys.

I just installed a few days ago Manjaro Minimal, KDE.

It is working fine and connected to internet through WiFi.
The issue I have is that the WiFi icon on the tool bar is saying I am having limited connection or not connected sometimes despite I can actually browse the internet normally.

This is not a big issue but it is irritating, it shouldn’t be like this.

How can I fix that?
(This is the machine I will reinstall it again on it)

I will highly appreciate your help.

Hi @oldtux,

It happens when NetworkManager can’t reach the address/server associated with the connectivity check. I think, but am not sure, this is ping.manjaro.org.

I changed mine to my Home Server, so that I know it’s on and functional. So you can change it as well:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NetworkManager#Checking_connectivity

Thanks @Mirdarthos

The problem is I am actually connected, can browse and download normally but the icon is showing a warning the connection is limited or no connection though it is actually connected.

I understand, and that’s what I replied to.

:wink:

Edit:

Indeed, when I checked just now, the file configuring the URL to do the check is /usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/20-connectivity.conf:

$ cat /usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/20-connectivity.conf                                                                                                                                                              130 ↵
[connectivity]
uri=http://ping.manjaro.org/check_network_status.txt

And I’ve tested that URL as well, and:

Edit #2:

I’ve changed mine:

$ cat /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/20-connectivity.conf
[connectivity]
uri=http://disc.world/check_network_status.txt

… for the reason mentioned above.

is not a valid domain name, according to 8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1, and my ISP’s DNS resolver.

I know, it’s my internal network.

Or it is an accurate description - when the server system is running on real spinning platters - like the laptop I use :wink:
