Wifi Slows to 0kbps periodically

Hello. I’m using Manjaro KDE version 5.23.5. This has actually been an issue that has bugged my system for a while though.

I notice that at certain points the wi-fi speed drops to 0kbps. This can be delayed if I click on the network icon and pin it, but otherwise it’s almost predictable in terms of how likely it is to happen.

Would like some help in this regard please.

Thank you

Hi @Abubakar,

I noticed that there are multiple of the WiFi drivers in the AUR for you:

So, while I don’t know if one of the will fix your problem, it certainly is something to try. To install them:

  • For the 8188eu-dkms-git:
pamac build 8188eu-dkms-git
  • For the 8188eu-dkms:
pamac build 8188eu-dkms
  • For the 8188eu-aircrack-dkms-git:
pamac build 8188eu-aircrack-dkms-git

Although, I personally think the 8188eu-dkms would be best for you.

Hope this helps!

Hello. Thank you. FOr good measure should I perhaps isntall all of them?

No, they’re drivers. installing all won’t work, at best and cause very big problems at worst.

Only 1 at a time.

If a custom build driver is necessary then the most reasonable build script would be the 8188eu-dkms. There is a few caveats especially when building dkms’d drivers.

The aircrack script is not suited for general usage as it activates special features used by very specal applications.
