WiFi Issue - WiFi Not Connecting To Network After Recent Updates

Hello all.

I’m a Manjaro noob, using KDE and I’m having issues with my WiFi. My WiFi was working just fine before recent updates. However, now my laptop isn’t connecting to my home WiFi network. I can see other wireless networks. I’ve tried entering the password for my home wireless network and the following displays:

Wireless interface wlp4s0 Authorization supplicant failed
Connection deactivated

Here’s what my inxi -Fazy command returned:

I need help to figure out what I can do to get my laptop connected to my home wireless network. I’m currently working off a usb ethernet adapter to connect to the internet.

I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 laptop and I’m running the KDE desktop environment. I don’t know if this helps.

I have a similar issue, can’t get it towork either, I rolled back recent upgrades and it works again, sadly there’s not a lot or even no information in the logs either regarding the issues. For me it just get’s stuck at authorization and after a while just stopps.

Thinkpad P15v here.

Hello,

See those two linked topics from here

I have similar issue with Wifi since upgrading packages around February 28th. I’m using Lenovo ThinkPad T460s.
I’m able to select network and attempt to connect to it, but it always ends with an error “Failed to get secrets”.

I found a post on forum that the issue might be related to networkmanager 1.36, but when I checked what version is on my device it turned out it is 1.34 which should worked fine based on the comments.

https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/73948

I also found similar information about wpa_supplicant having issues on 2.10. I used pamac to downgrade to 2.9, but with no success.

Here’s output from commands that were suggested in other threads:

Could be the firmware:

I’m on different hardware but lost a single connection (client broadcom/host qualcom, both manjaro) after the update that threw the ‘missing fw’ pamac warning on the client. Tried all 3 drivers, downgraded wpa_supplicant, same issue, however, current live iso can connect.

It’s not for me, I narrowed it down to KDE and KDE-framworks now,
Plasma 5.23.5 + Frameworks 5.90.0 is fine, 5.24.2 + 5.91.0 is not.
Problem came up with Feb. 27th upgrade, I upgraded and downgraded a bunch of times to find out what can and cannot be upgraded, linux-firmware doesn’t seem to be the cause, both old and new versions work with old KDE but both don’t with new. Also bluetooth is always disabled on boot with new KDE, even if set to be enabled on boot.

I posted a workaround that I found on the KDE forum here:

It goes as follows:

There seems to be a workaround:
449984 – Plasma 5.24.0 NetworkManager cannot get secrets using DBus when using a proxy

TL;DR
~/.config/kioslaverc should look like this:

[Proxy Settings]
ProxyType=0

Reboot, and it should work. If proxy settings are necessary, Wifi can still be enabled via commandline:

nmcli --ask connection up <connection>

I decided to do a full reinstall of the system and it seems to have solved the problem. This is not the best solution as I even had to nuke my /home folder as even after first reinstall some config still persisted and still cause WiFi issues.
There were also other problems like “Add Software” freezing when typing in a search box, so I guess there were some deeper issues that I have no sufficient knowledge to be able to resolve myself.
