Hello @Mattyoz, I guess it is this device what you are talking about:

As you see behind ‘driver’ there is ‘N/A’ written, so your system dont know/have the driver for it.

But there are drivers for this wifi-chip in the AUR. But at first I would suggest to switch to an other Kernel while 5.13 is EOL (End Of Life → no further fixes).

For updating the Kernel you can use the program ‘mhwd-kernel’. Open a terminal and type:

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux515

for installing kernel 5.15 … (change linux515 to linux514 if you want to install kernel 5.14)
After a reboot your system should use the new installed kernel.

The most things @jrichard326 just tell faster then me. :grinning: Keep in mind as @jrichard326 said that you need to install kernel headers for the used kernel to install dkms-moduls.

For more help feel free to ask again. :grinning:

I have difficulty understanding how Manjaro proposes its Distribution with a Kernel at the end of its life  I have no idea what the kernel is for but downloading Manjaro and already having to touch the core of the distribution I love it :joy:

Linux is very far from becoming a viable alternative to Windows knowing that 70-80% of computer users don’t even know how to use a computer outside a text editor. I’m abusing a little but the majority don’t understand anything about computers :upside_down_face:

I update the Manjaro packets and come back to you

Yes, some days befor there was a discussion on the forum about this “issue”. :slightly_smiling_face:

For short, the kernel is linux. Everything else is build around to use the kernel and/or make it easier to use. Every 2-3 months a new kernel was released. Some kernels are LTS kernels which get Long Term Support.
For more infomation you con visit kernel . org:

https://www.kernel.org

… I agree, but I have already migrate familymembers from windows to manjaro which are part of the “majority” you said and it wored for them and for me (less support calls  )

@kisun I updated the Kernel but when I use > inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width My Konsole tells me I’m still on the Kernel: 5.13

I have to go back to Windows. I’ll be back on Linux around 11pm

Did you reboot?

And what is the output of this command:

mhwd-kernel -li

Ah indeed the reboot has solved the problem I am well in 5.15  But how to keep the Kernel up to date if a new update is released every 3-4 months?

I missed your last post. You can check the Update Announcements and Manjaro Notifier Settings may be of some help as well. See screenshot.

It is a good idea to have at least two kernels installed and have one of those be a LTS kernel. There is “learning curve” with Linux, but if you think back, the same can be said of Windows. Take a look here:
https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Manjaro_Kernels

In the kernels most drivers are buildin and sometimes drivers leave the kernel. So sometimes for old hardware the newest kernel dont work or for newest hardware there where no drivers in the older kernels.

As long as you kernel is not EOL and your system works without problems then there is no need to switch kernel.
And if 5.15 works on your system without problems you can stay a while, cause 5.15 will get next LTS.

You didn’t mention if you are dual booting with Windows. If you are, be sure that Windows is completely shutdown before booting Manjaro. Windows Fastboot, Hybrid Sleep and Hibernation should be disabled.

it’s done yes

The kernel has been updated but I have errors
