Wifi disconnecting and not allowing me to reconnect without entering a the password

Ok, first off all. This is happening across multiple systems. 2 of my 3 manjaro installations exhibit this. Sometimes I have to actually enter the password again sometimes I can just click cancel and it will reconnect.

This is also happening on a friends machine who installed manjaro on my advice. This happens on the LTS kernel, the 5.17 kernel, and the 5.18 kernel. Everything is up to date as far as I aware.

On one of my machines (M6 mini pc), and my friends machine (AMD hardware, I don’t know the specs) we used a different usb stick to flash the latest image from the website. One release newer than when we installed it on these machines. I flashed on the m6, it stayed connected for 2 days, it disconnected today. My friend flashed last night, so we will see soon.

On the afflicted thinkpad that has an old install, it is happening multiple times per day.

Here is the system info for the 3 machines I have. First a lenovo thinkpad, that is afflicted. I did not reinstall manjaro. (Thanks for KDE Connect. )

I guess the question at the end of all this… Why?

Thanks!

6/24/22: Just an update. This hasn’t happened to me since making this post. I did however get a message from my buddy that it happened to him twice.

6/26/22: It just happened to both of us. My friend texted me that it happened to him, and minutes later, it happened to me as well on the M6 mini pc.

Do you use the same type of acesspoint ?
Does this happen with live-manjaro ?

No, we have a different accespoint, different ISP, miles apart etc.

I haven’t tried leaving the live iso running for days, so I have no idea.

It has happened to me twice since I lasted updated the thread.

Tip:
  • A server is meant to run a long time (But without GUI)
  • A desktop is meant to be bootet from time to time (maybe once a day)
  • After an update it is always necessary to do a reboot.
    :man_shrugging:

I switched on Wifi -‘Turn On’ from Power Management and turned off Screen Locking from Workspace behavior settings. Also turned off screen energy saving. Since then wifi is not disconnecting. Also reboot after each update. Also kdewallet password entry as usual. Also installed opensource wifi drivers from Manjaro Settings Manager Hardware Configuration Settings.
On Desktop. Manjaro KDE x86-64 Desktop

This still happens from time to time on my minipc. My buddy sold his pc, but last I heard it was still happening.
