Hello everyone, I am completely new to Linux and to the forum so please excuse my ignorance.
I just installed Manjaro (kernel 6.10) and my wifi card is not showing up in the graphic interface. I’ve read a few threads about similar problems on the forum and I ended up trying these commands :
ip a

In the topics I read, many of thoses who faced a similar problem had at least their wifi card showing up in the ‘Network’ field, but this is not the case here. I really think my card is working properly though, because I briefly tried Ubuntu before turning to Manjaro (because Xubuntu was painfully slow) and I was able to connect to wifi with it.
My card is an INTEL112BNHMW
Thanks in advance!
Looks like maybe the wifi is disabled in the BIOS/UEFI. Or perhaps it even has a hardware switch. Check and please provide the output of:
lsusb
And
lspci
You must have used an older ISO to install from - the kernel
Kernel: 6.10.13-3-MANJARO
is currently not even availabe anymore.
A full system update will make your system current - install a supported kernel as well.
The update might not go smoothly, though.
If neither inxi
nor lsusb
nor lspci
do not even show the presence of the hardware then it might either be defunct or has become lose/unseated - or it has been switched off somehow.
Not much anyone can do when the system doesn’t even “see” the hardware being even present.
If Ubuntu was able to see the card and use it, try using an older supported kernel rather than the newest, as they do not use the newest, not by default anyway.
Hi, thanks for your quick answers!

So still no wifi card if I understand well…
I will try updating the kernel with an ethernet connection, as @Nachlese suggested. If the new kernel installed by the update does not recognise the wifi card either, would it be a good idea to install an older one with the sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux000
command?
If yes, which one would you recommend?
Thanks again,
I’ll keep you updated!
Not exactly what I wanted to suggest in that I don’t recommend to update your kernel to a supported one only.
Instead, update the whole system, including the kernel.
If you still have the Xubuntu ISO:
boot from it and run the inxi -zv8
command as well as lsusb
and lspci
there in the live system
You said it did work there - so comparing the output there with the one from your current Manjaro should provide some differences and clues.
The card should be old enough to be supported - there might be a physical switch to turn it on/off on the front side of the laptop (is what I read).
Opening the device to access the card to re-seat it should be possible.
Looks like the card is accessible after removing the keyboard:

Hey, sorry for the late response.
So I tried booting on Xubuntu and, surprise, no wifi. Which is strange because I am absolutely sure that it worked a few weeks ago. I tried all the Fn+F1,F2,F3,etc. combinations, I opened up the laptop and reseated the card as you suggested, but still nothing changed.
BUT I think I found what is going on. I was convinced there was no physical swich, but it turns out I was wrong : there is a touch sensitive button that just looks like a regular LED indicator.
Picture here
I imagine it just died while switched off…
So unless one of you has a miraculous idea about how to make it work again, I guess I’ll just have to find my way around it
Nothing here to add regarding your WiFi.
However, regarding the kernel…
There is no reason that you can’t revert to say kernel 6.6 (LTS) if need be, on the chance that it might magically resolve an issue.
LTS kernels by their very nature receive ongoing tweaking for maximum compatibility and can often be a viable choice in preference to the latest and greatest kernels which typically are not around for long.
Regards.
Did you already try:

Consider a USB WiFi Dongle if @andreas85’s command doesn’t pan out.
