I got a Lenovo Duet 5 and I’d like to eventually run Manjaro on it (and maybe even contribute something if successful).
My question is where do I start learning how to do it? I assume it’ll be quite involved.
If anyone can point me to anything relevant it would be very much welcome.

Manjaro ARM does not support your device. We have no support for the Qualcomm SoC in it. Sorry.
what does that entail? can I use a kernel from Google for example?
It would entail getting support for the SoC upstreamed to the linux kernel and then find a board/device firmware used for booting that can be set to boot the linux kernel via boot scripts.
