Where is ABS?

#1

Hello, the archwiki tells me to install ABS wich is on the repos https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Build_System#How_to_use_ABS
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?name=abs

But “sudo pacman -S abs” doesnt find anything. What am I suppose to do?

I won’t claim to be an expert in this area, but it could be that the software isn’t in the Manjaro repositories, it seems that manjaro have their own tools. I found this post which might be relevant.

I’ve searched abs package in AUR but I’ve not found it:

ABS works only in Archlinux and is not for Manjaro.
In Manjaro you can use buildtree with the -a flag, which will download and later update the complete Archlinux package tree to your harddrive. Then you can build them with makepkg
buildtree is part of manjaro-tools-pkg

Thanks for the reply!!

Could it be possible a link to the manjaro wiki where this is explained for newbies?

Regards!!

#7

About buildtree there isn’t really more to say than man buildtree
On makepkg you will find tons of information, for example on the Arch wiki

#8

ABS is not available yet. you will have to work with PKGBUILD files and makepkg for now.

#9

ABS wil not come to manjaro, manjaro has as oberon mentioned
