What is the testing branch?

#21

I’d put it like this:

arch repos:

testing (optional)
core
extra
community-testing (optional)
community

manjaro repos:

unstable:
core
extra
community

testing:
core
extra
community

stable:
core
extra
community

Now I can see that neither list or graphics can explain the routes of the packages, it’s more complex then simple straight paths. Names can be misleading and manjaro’s repos structure is different from Arch’s so Manjaro’s testing is different from Arch’s one. And then there are overlay’s which add another layer to that.

Thanks for explaining it here. I bet that not only me but also lot of other Manjaro users were interested in that topic.

Are overlay packages only an unstable branch thing or they also exist on testing?

The overlay packages exist in all branches. That is why you may see multiple versions in the pool folder.
