Weird mouse issues (with one specific mouse)

Hey there everyone!

I’ve been having weird issues with my gaming mouse. It’s a R.A.TTE Mad Catz and whenever I plug it in I get weird issues with it (and then also my other mouse). I can move the cursor, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to respond to clicking windows etc. The clicking / buttons definitely work, but for some reason clicking only works from time to time. It does work when I am playing a game, but it doesn’t work anywhere else.

You can check how it is being recognized using ‘xinput’

What model is it exactly?

You could try with an x config:

sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-vmmouse.conf

Paste the following:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier     "Mouse0"
    Driver         "evdev"
    Option         "Name" "Saitek Cyborg R.A.T.3 Mouse"
    Option         "Vendor" "06a3"

Save/exit with ctrl+x
Then restart X or just reboot
(these setting may need some tweaking for your device)
