Wayland session not starting

Hi,

When logging into any wayland session with SDDM, I get a short blackscreen and then get put back to SDDM.

I have tried using KDE Plasma on Wayland and Wayfire as both are WMs I would use.
Plasma works just fine on X11

the packages I used are wayfire-git and plasma-wayland-session

other wayland-related packages installed are wayland wayland-protocols wayland-utils egl-wayland kwayland kwayland-integration lib32-wayland qt5-wayland xorg-wayland

the supposed wayland-session log in ~/. local/share/sddm/wayland-session.log is completely empty

Something to try first. Create a new user login via the Plasma X11 session, then logout. Next log in as the new user, choosing the Plasma Wayland session. Does that result in a working session?

If not, please share the following output…

OK … can you please open up /etc/default/grub
and add to the line begining with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX this option:

nvidia_drm.modeset=1

So, assuming there was nothing there it would look like:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nvidia_drm.modeset=1"

Then run:

sudo update-grub

Then restart and test again.

So I did that,
Plasma on Wayland now start, however I get a blackscreen whenever I try to change anything about a window, opening firefox took about 5s of blackscreen, moving it seems impossible, just goes black and moving my mouse to my second monitor does aswell.
But I guess Wayland starts

Ran into the same problem today.

Wanted to try out wayland on nvidia ( 2060 ) and installed plasma-wayland-session.

Seeing the button on login screen now, but trying to log into wayland just gives me a big black flash and then im back to login.

Looked it up and DRM.modeset and something like “efl” ? needs to be added.

Scared for life touching anything grub related since the last update i bailed, because apparently no one in the manjaro dev team has a luks encrypted main drive.
