Wayland gives a core dump when logging in

I am running a Dell Thin Client that has an AMD processor and graphics card. My card isn’t Nvidia. I have been running X11 and Wayland for a couple of years without issue. I did an upgrade yesterday and then Wayland stopped working. When I try to login, I get a screen that is gibberish and then after a minute or so I get dropped back to the SSDM login screen. I then figured the upgrade messed something up so I rolled back and I am still having the same issue. I have two monitors so I undid one to see if that was the problem but it didn’t solve it. I then created a new user and tried logging in with Wayland as the first login but I still ended up with the same issue.

Hi @grandcanyon and welcome to the Manjaro community.

Cheers.

I ended up figuring it out. I had to downgrade mesa from 1.28 to 1.24. I changed kernels from 6.7 to 6.8. I am not sure if both were needed. I thought when I did the full upgrade rollback that mesa was downgraded but I’m not sure as I haven’t checked the pacman.log file.
