RPi.GPIO install trouble

I am using python 3.11.5 on a Raspberry Pi 4 that is running Manjaro. I have search the web and tried all the suggestions to get it to work but have come up short. This is the error I am getting. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
The command ran was “pip install RPi.GPIO”

error: externally-managed-environment

× This environment is externally managed
╰─> To install Python packages system-wide, try 'pacman -S
python-xyz', where xyz is the package you are trying to
    install.

If you wish to install a non-Arch-packaged Python package,
create a virtual environment using 'python -m venv path/to/venv'.
    Then use path/to/venv/bin/python and path/to/venv/bin/pip.

If you wish to install a non-Arch packaged Python application,
it may be easiest to use 'pipx install xyz', which will manage a
virtual environment for you. Make sure you have python-pipx
    installed via pacman.

note: If you believe this is a mistake, please contact your Python installation or OS distribution provider. You can override this, at the risk of breaking your Python installation or OS, by passing --break-system-packages.
hint: See PEP 668 for the detailed specification.

I kept a recipe from when I ported argonone fan script to Manjaro which requires a couple of custom scripts get what is needed.

Use the custom script from AUR

  • ensure you are using arm unstable branch
  • ensure you have base-devel and git available
  • clone the custom scripts then build and install
sudo pacman-mirrors -aS unstable
sudo pacman -Syu base-devel
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/raspi-gpio-git
cd raspi-gpio-git
makepkg -is
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/python-rpio-gpio
cd raspi-gpio-git
makepkg -is
