User session / system freezes when entering sleep mode

Symptoms

  • My system freezes, when it tries to enter sleep mode. It actually doesn’t get there, but gets stuck with a black screen with only the mouse pointer visible or the Manjaro background.
  • This problem occurs with Wayland as well as X11.
  • What is strange: If I log out first and then click the sleep icon on the login screen, everything works fine. So I’d assume that it is not a basic hardware or kernel problem, but something related to plasma / the user session.

What I’ve tried so far

  • I’ve read the following posts and tried to apply the proposed solutions, where it made sense to me:
  • I’ve updated my bios to the latest version (2025-02-10)
  • I’ve searched for hints in the logs, but so far I haven’t found anything useful. It seems like the system is freezing before it can log any errors.

Thank you very much in advance for your support!
Regards, Markus

Hi, in my post Freeze on sleep the new Manjaro installation helped only to the point until I installed rclone again. When I use systemd to mount rclone on the startup, the system freezes. Doing it manually works most of the times. In my case rclone is the problem for sure and I didn’t find a soultion by now.

I don’t know if you use rclone, but maybe it helps.
