Symptoms
- My system freezes, when it tries to enter sleep mode. It actually doesn’t get there, but gets stuck with a black screen with only the mouse pointer visible or the Manjaro background.
- This problem occurs with Wayland as well as X11.
- What is strange: If I log out first and then click the sleep icon on the login screen, everything works fine. So I’d assume that it is not a basic hardware or kernel problem, but something related to plasma / the user session.
What I’ve tried so far
- I’ve read the following posts and tried to apply the proposed solutions, where it made sense to me:
- System just freezes when entering Sleep
- Freeze on sleep
- Black screen crash when entering sleep mode
- (I’ve skipped the many posts covering wake-up problems, because I don’t event get to the point of waking up the system.)
- I’ve updated my bios to the latest version (2025-02-10)
- I’ve searched for hints in the logs, but so far I haven’t found anything useful. It seems like the system is freezing before it can log any errors.
