Hello,
I am facing a problem with an USB Conference Speaker connected to a Display and USB Switch (to switch devices between two PCs).
Also connecting external drives (like USB drives or hard disks) somtimes fails on the second account. So it might be a more general USB problem but I focus on the sound issue here.
This is the setup:
Two PCs share
- two monitors,
- mouse,
- keyboard,
- a USB webcam and
- the USB conference speaker
being connected to a KVM202DH switch (Amazon-Link)
With this switch I can use all the peripherals with two computers. Pressing a button I switch over to the other computer.
The issue is with the Anker conference speaker (Amazon-Link).
The problem:
Eveything works fine with manjaro Linux on the first account that has been generated during installation.
I added a second user account later which I also made member of the sudoers. For this second user the sound crashes after less then a second when e. g. playing something on youtube or when starting a call on Teams, Discord aso. After that, only two of the four device buttons are light, no sound is active any more. Looking intro the sound setting shows that sound output is mapped to “Dummy device” while the USB device is not available. Reconecting brings back the device but it crashes again immediatly after being accessed.
Again, this only happens for the second user. Everything works fine for the first one (as well as on the second PC - a Windows 10 machine).
Here are my system info (from the first user account):
