USB problems only in second user account (connection crashes or fails)

Hello,

I am facing a problem with an USB Conference Speaker connected to a Display and USB Switch (to switch devices between two PCs).
Also connecting external drives (like USB drives or hard disks) somtimes fails on the second account. So it might be a more general USB problem but I focus on the sound issue here.

This is the setup:
Two PCs share

  • two monitors,
  • mouse,
  • keyboard,
  • a USB webcam and
  • the USB conference speaker

being connected to a KVM202DH switch (Amazon-Link)
With this switch I can use all the peripherals with two computers. Pressing a button I switch over to the other computer.

The issue is with the Anker conference speaker (Amazon-Link).

The problem:
Eveything works fine with manjaro Linux on the first account that has been generated during installation.
I added a second user account later which I also made member of the sudoers. For this second user the sound crashes after less then a second when e. g. playing something on youtube or when starting a call on Teams, Discord aso. After that, only two of the four device buttons are light, no sound is active any more. Looking intro the sound setting shows that sound output is mapped to “Dummy device” while the USB device is not available. Reconecting brings back the device but it crashes again immediatly after being accessed.
Again, this only happens for the second user. Everything works fine for the first one (as well as on the second PC - a Windows 10 machine).

Here are my system info (from the first user account):

Can anyone help to solve this wired problem?

login as the user where everything works well. open a terminal and check the command

groups

it will display all groups that are assigned to this user. then log out and login as the second user with the problems. run the groups command again and check if there is a difference of the assigned groups between this 2 users.

I already tried to allign the groups to have it exactly the same for both users (axel ist the first user).

axel@BueroPC ~]$ groups
sys network power users lp wheel axel

ewy@BueroPC ~]$ groups
sys network power users lp wheel ewy

So the only difference is the group named with the user’s name

I just remembered, that the other user (my wife  ) mentioned issues with USB drives as well. I added this into my initial post.
(BTW: Just added Links to the products in my first post)

Are you using hot user switching - essentially understood as - is the devices in use on one pc when you switch to the other?

I think such setup is likely to generate issues especially if the device in question is in use and therefore locked to the system using it.

You can test this by logging of the computer currently using the device(s) before switching to the other.

If the issue is eliminated you know why

Well, all of a suddon it works. I have no clue why, I did not change anything. Maybe some package was updated. Anyway - solved
