Upgrade to Samba 4.17 broke file sharing

Standalone Samba file server worked until update in October. Now this message appears when trying to enable, start or restart the service:

Nov 13 14:04:29 NASserver smbd[733]: smbd version 4.17.2 started.
Nov 13 14:04:29 NASserver smbd[733]: Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2022
Nov 13 14:05:59 NASserver systemd[1]: smb.service: start operation timed out. Terminating.
Nov 13 14:05:59 NASserver systemd[1]: smb.service: Failed with result 'timeout'.
Output from testparm reveals no errors. Log file says
v 13 14:05:59 NASserver systemd[1]: Failed to start Samba SMB Daemon.
░░ Subject: A start job for unit smb.service has failed
░░ Defined-By: systemd

Any fix for this aside from rolling back to a previous version?

It is likely caused by apparmor - you can either disable appmor or look at link below

Thank you. That’s resolved it.
