Hi I tried to upgrade the current linux 5.7 to 5.8, and remove 5.7. However blocked by linux-latest package. And linux-latest is also a dependency of other packages.
So I would like to ask what is this package and, to be honest, why it is not the latest…
Would it be safe to remove it, or I should keep waiting until it officially upgrade to 5.8??
Thanks a lot!!!
Normally it should be possible to remove linux-latest. If you try removing it in terminal what is the output you get?

Hi thank you lol~~~~
I haven’t tried it, but from pamac-manager it shows that its an dependency of other packages.
Actually I do not know what does this package do and if it is safe to remove it …

Hi thanks a lot.
I’ve read it before and knowing how to remove it. Furthermore, I would like to know what is this package used for and if it is safe to just remove it.
Will it upgrade to 5.8 and should I wait or not…
Would be nice not to let us speculate what this means, can you disclose this super confidential information with us? What dependency?

Thank you very much and sorry for missing the important info…
It seems that it is relied by linux57 and its dependencies…
