Update error - unsure of update cycles/consequences

OK then, but this is the thread for the Testing branch so if you report here for the Stable branch, which you shouldn’t, at least say it so that nobody waste his time trying to figure it out.

Here you go Stable Updates - Manjaro Linux Forum

getting dependency errors with libvirt:

:: unable to satisfy dependency ‘libvirt=6.5.0’ required by libvirt-storage-gluster
:: unable to satisfy dependency ‘libvirt=6.5.0’ required by libvirt-storage-iscsi-direct
:: unable to satisfy dependency ‘libvirt=6.5.0’ required by libvirt-storage-rbd

Is this maybe to do with the update from 6.5.0-2 to 1:6.5.0-2?

regards

I think you are being a little bit arrogant. A user is informing you that an update that is supposed to be to the testing branch has being pushed to the stable branch. So something is odd here.

Same happends me today. im on stable, but I got this update …?

You can think what you want I don’t really care. The crucial information, the issue being on STABLE BRANCH, was missing all along. I tried to figure it out to end up reading “by the way, I’m on STABLE”, so… yeah I’m arrogant?

please wait mirror end updating

and philm will put an announce in stable

The update ran cleanly

You can see from an end user perspective. An update came and there is no other announcement than this. And it’s for testing branch. Something is not right… You point to stable updates forum, but there isn’t a proper thread there neither. All are old announcements. I’m just asking for a little empathy before barking to an end user.

Not worse than the constant blue screens I was getting on Windows after a recent update

Did some cleanup from the testing announcement. Please keep it civil.

There will be also an announcement for stable. Be patient and check mirrors

Solved with fantasy. But it works.
Installed kernel 5.9.1-1 -> reboot
Uninstalled kernel 5.7.19-2 -> reboot
mhwd reappears
uninstalled nvidia 440
uninstalled nvidia 450
installed nvidia 455
forced installation of nvidia 455 utils.
restarted
installed kernel 5.9.0-1-rt16
Nvidia Settings works
wine-staging 5.17 works and see the graphic card
Eve Online works perfectly in DX11

Thank you for the attention

Exactly, I allready wondered that the stable Update came the same day as the testing.

@bogdancovaciu it seems that in the cleanup you included the issue I raised about libvirt. This seems to be a version numbering issue at the very least that is causing the dependencies to fail on the testing update.

Not exactly sure why it was added to the cleanup with regard to stable/testing branch issues.

Is that issue still present?
libvirt is inherited from arch … let me ask around.

yes the issue still occurs. it seems it cant resolve the dependency due to the version number changing from 6.5.0-2 to 1:6.5.0-2.

I see this in our branch-compare software:

See also this.

thanks @philm , I saw this in the update package change list as well. libvirt-storage-gluster; libvirt-storage-iscsi-direct and libvirt-storage-rbd all seems to depend on libvirt 6.5.0-2. when updating pacman fails the dependency check since the libvirt package is now 1:6.5.0-2.

When searching the arch packages I noticed it is marked as outdated so I think for the now I will ignore this libvirt update and wait for the next round. I am not experiencing any issues and not using ZFS either so no real need to update libvirt.
