systemctl don`t needs sudo
[Unstable Update] 2020-12-02 - BREAKAGE EXPECTED - Python 3.9, Nvidia driver simplification, KDE-git
There’s a thread about it here:
sudo pacman-mirrors --api --set-branch testing
zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) sudo pacman-mirrors --api --set-branch testing
You can use su
to start a root shell instead.
is pamac
broken? I’m trying to install virtualbox-ext-oracle
from AUR, this is what I get during auth (without actually typing the password):
** (pkttyagent:66921): WARNING **: 17:00:15.007: Error reading line from helper: nothing to read
==== AUTHENTICATION FAILED ====
Error: Authentication failed
Whereas pamac-manager
gets stuck on Checking inter-conflicts…
P.S. I’m asking here because it’s the most recent topic, but I’m pretty sure this issue was caused by today’s (09-12-2020) update
It’s likely that not only sudo
but also the polkit authentication is broken, while su
still works. I’ve already rolled back to testing branch to get a working sudo
back
when did that change? I’ve been using sudo for systemctl forever it seems…
You can use it, but not necessarily. It will ask for password if necessary.
Maybe the wrong question, but will the Manjaro team announce when breakage is no longer expected? Thanks.
It strange that you get sudo segfault - I am running several systems on unstable branch and have never run into this.
I think - but I have nothing to back it - could it be due to - accidental of course - a partially synced system?
Or it could be environment specific - although I have idea how that should happen - but we have seen stranger things.
I solved the segfault issue by downgrading fprintd
from 1.90.6-1 -> 1.90.1-1 and libfprint
from 1.90.5-1 -> 1.90.3-1.
I don’t have a fingerprint reader on my system so I removed both of those packages and sudo now works for me too.
Thanks!
The segfault issue is now fixed with fprintd
1.90.7-1:
Manjaro Einstellungsmanager --> Hardwarekonfiguration
Das Fenster ist leer.
“Alle Geräte anzeigen” funktioniert noch.
Habe eine MSI RX5500 8GB mit den freien Treibern .
.
Manjaro Settings Manager -> Hardware Configuration
The window is empty.
“Show all devices” still works.
I have an MSI RX5500 8GB with the free drivers. Gnome unstable.
.
EDIT: solved by installing the free drivers via Live-USB - mhwd-x was missing in System! (Why? nobody nose)
EDIT: removed by system-upgrade on 7-December 2020 - not reinstalled - installed new now.
(mhwd / v86d / mhwd-db/ mhwd-amdgpu / mhwd-ati / mhwd-nvidia (455.45.01-2) / mhwd-nvidia-390xx)
I switched to Unstable branch today on one of my computers as I needed Calibre 5.7 because the pdf rendering bug has been fixed with that version. All is working fine, xfce with 5.10rc7. The only packages from AUR that I needed to rebuild were (seldomly used) vidcutter and multibootusb. Nice job!
I guess I spoke too soon.:
Same issue as user willyleles:
“when my session is locked return only a black screen. In a tty I can see that everything is normal, but I need to kill my session to able to see the login screen again (or startx a new session). I’m using lightdm.”

systemctl restart lightdm gets it working for now.
Edit #2 removed light-locker, installed xfce4-screensaver, Enabled lockscreen in xfce4-screensaver. Now that works fine.
It has been reported here:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/68905
I wondered too
on Unstable it seems there is 2 version of libldac
libldac 2.0.2.3-2.0 -> community
libldac 2.0.2.3-1 -> extra
According to arch repository… only the libldac 2.0.2.3-1 in extra should be here…
Yep, just removed it.
