[Unstable Update] 2017-01-29 - QT 5.8, LibreOffice, NetworkManager, FF, TB, Manjaro Tools

Boot error on startup after applying update.

$ journalctl -b
Jan 29 manjaro-vm yakuake[811]: Error loading text-to-speech plug-in "flite"

Also two repo orphaned packages now being identified as AUR.

lib32-gperftools
lib32-rtmpdump

Remove these?

That fixed it for me.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, I had the same issue last night but got the updated qt5-styleplugins this morning and all is fine.

Still no Breath in SDDM login screen options.

What is different? Comparing menus from my stable (0.8.6-1) to unstable (0.8.7-1) they look the same.

All the other KDE apps I use in my vm-unstable system seem to be functioning properly

Krusader
Dolphin
Filelight
Kate
KOrganizer
Gwenview
Okular
KSysLog
Firefox

Any changes to Manjaro Settings GUI functionality to test, or just to ISO generation?

Here it is normal, please provide more information.

[leandro@manjaro ~]$ manjaro-settings-manager
qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin

Shutting down Manjaro Settings Manager…

[2017-01-29 12:13] [ALPM] upgraded qt5-styleplugins (5.0.0-2 -> 5.0.0-3)

I have a small issue:

warning: directory permissions differ on /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/
filesystem: 755 package: 700

What are the right permissions? 755 or 700?

I suppose you have sddm-breath-theme installed?

@Neutrino please ignore this warning. All is fine.

After update qt to 5.8 some apps start executing .qmlc files hidden under .cache in /var and /home which breaks with noexec flag set in fstab. See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1687234 . Any ideas if it’s intended behaviour or possible workaround without disabling noexec?

Same for Deepin…

Well to know that.
I know only Deep House Music :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

out of sudden while playing games KDE environment goes all black screen, all monitors goes black and whatever I have in screen open windows , widgets etc goes black then after a few secs it recovers but sometimes it doesnt so I have to log out.

I haven’t noticed that behaviour while not playing games… need more investigation…
I dont know what I have changed but I think maybe is because of steam ???
as far as I remember I have changed today Steam to use Runtime than Native … is that causing this issue? Oo?

Didn’t know this had to be explicitly installed. Thanks.

qt5.8 breaks Plasma5 on wayland, there are lots of issues currently.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1686690#p1686690

How can I downgrade the entire qt5.8 based packages with dependencies?
downgrade qt5-base was not OK.

for me as a Plasma user is a bit annoying crashing the desktop while using opengl games/software so I thing I am gonna visit the Testing or Stable repo for a while…

Can anyone comment on this?

like as they got removed from repos. if no other packages depends on them in your installation you can remove then safely.

Just making sure as this is unstable and their removal from the unstable repos may not have been intentional. Thanks.

as you can see here. it’s on purpose. after if you have any problem because they are missing. report a bug.

According to the above sources the following environment value is a workaroung to the QT5.8 issues: QML_DISABLE_DISK_CACHE=1
