Unreliable wifi

Hi everyone,

Sometimes, my laptop’s wifi works pretty well. Other times, the download/upload speeds are much slower than normal (comparing to the laptop in question and my android phone). In more rare occurrences, it cant even connect to wifi (though it detects all of the networks available).

Do I need to install any drivers? In Manjaro Hardware Settings it says “Unknown Device (MEDIATEK Corp.)” with no installing options.

My laptop: Lenovo Legion 5
OS: Manjaro KDE fully updated, Kernel 5.19.7
My network card (from lspci | grep Network):
04:00.0 Network controller: MEDIATEK Corp. MT7921 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter

Thanks in advance.

Please post the output of the following in order to see the driver in use (or lack thereof):

inxi -Nazy

inxi -Nazy:

Network:
Device-1: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet
    vendor: Lenovo driver: r8168 v: 8.050.03-NAPI modules: r8169 pcie: gen: 1
    speed: 2.5 GT/s lanes: 1 port: 2000 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 10ec:8168
    class-ID: 0200
Device-2: MEDIATEK MT7921 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter
    vendor: Lenovo driver: mt7921e v: kernel pcie: gen: 2 speed: 5 GT/s lanes: 1
    bus-ID: 04:00.0 chip-ID: 14c3:7961 class-ID: 0280

The MT7921 device is probably the culprit, in fact, it was multiple times mentioned in this forum, but it was supposed to work with more recent kernels.

Thanks in advance.

Its still happens :frowning:
