Uninstalling snapcraft

#1

Hi, i’m struggling to install Spotify and Discord through Canonical’s Snap, the problem is that I’ve done so many wrong things that I don’t know where I ended up but I get an error that snap cannot communicate with server, and the snapd.service status it’s failed.

I followed the steps from their website, but I couldn’t find spotify anywhere in the launcher so I removed it, then I tried to remove snap and install it through pacman.

The way I removed snap first time is deleting snapd folder from /var/lib.

No I’m in a loophole and I don’t know what to do, can you explain me how to reinstall snapcraft, and then properly get Spotify and maybe make it appear in launcher?

how did you install? you followed these directions?
https://docs.snapcraft.io/installing-snap-on-manjaro-linux/6807

deleting a folder is not the same as uninstalling. try and manually disable snapd.socket and uninstalling with pacman

sudo systemctl stop snapd.socket
sudo systemctl disable snapd.socket
sudo pacman -R snapd
given, that works without issue, you can now install snapd and enable snapd.socket

sudo pacman -S snapd
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
install spotify:
sudo snap install spotify
