Resetting Root Vorta Configuration (Solve Non-GUI Issue)?

I have an issue with my instance of Vorta (AUR Install - Latest Version) in which the GUI window does not appear when launched by root on the terminal.

There doesn’t appear to be a /root/.config/vorta folder.
At launch, the prior version’s backup tasks runs, but without the GUI:

root@MidnightStarSign:/home/sarah# vorta

Is there a way to reset vorta such that it works similar to how it does on a new install to reset the GUI (other users are able to launch vorta via CLI successfully on new installs)?

Vorta is not designed to run as root. Why are you doing that?

Running programs as root because they don’t do what you expect running them normally is a very bad idea.

Because it’s a convenient way to back up a full system to a remote server

It doesn’t appear to be convenient if it doesn’t work. Otherwise you wouldn’t be here.

I just made an edit to my post while you were replying, FYI.

I get that, but it’s probably ok for a backup program that’s a non-essential part of the system / desktop environment.

Some GUIs of borg do not run as root.

Just use the native CLI borg for root backup. :point_left:
