Unable to use latest LTS kernel

Hello, I can’t use the buttons to shutdown and restart in the whisker menu after I suspended the machine one time. I have to use the command “shutdown now” to shutdown. The buttons appear but I can’t click on them.

I also can’t switch to the newest LTS kernel that I have installed for some reason. I’m using 6.6.90-1 and I want to use 6.12.28-1 and it doesn’t appear in the grub menu.

Hi @daedalus,

Please provide the following output from before and after the suspend, labelled properly so that we, here on the forum, can know what is what:

systemd-inhibit --list

Please also provide the output of:

mhwd-kernel --listinstalled

And

sudo awk -F\' '/(^|| )nuentry / {print $2}' /boot/grub/grub.cfg|cat -n|awk '{print $1-1,$1="",$0}'

Hi @daedalus,
Maybe you could also explain why did you choose this partition scheme and without swap.

I wonder whether you have the /boot/efi sector almost full.

I don’t really need swap I have 16GB of RAM (some of it is used by my integrated graphics, which I can configure how much). Also the only relevant device here it’s “sda” the other 2 are a different OS and an external HDD.

The thing is that the kernel updates just fine, I’m just not using it.

Turns out now I can use the buttons :upside_down_face:, I’ll leave the thread open to solve the kernel issue.

It got solved after I entered to my other OS on a whole different device, and got back.

How did you install the kernel? Because it should have been there if you used mhwd-kernel to install it. Either way, try the following:

  1. Install the install-grub package if you don’t have it already:

    pamac install install-grub

  2. Use that to reinstall/update grub:

    sudo install-grub

Reboot and test.

I installed it from the pamac GUI

says

Warning: GRUB bootloader at /boot/efi/EFI/Manjaro was updated,
but it seems like you are not using it by default.
Please check your EFI boot priorities!

now it works
