sudo rm -v /var/cache/pacman/pkg/xf86-video-intel-1:2.99.917+916+g31486f40-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst*

The * at the end will make sure it removes the corrupted package and its signature. Then you can start the upgrade again.

Also, unless you’re using an older Intel GPU, xf86-video-intel is not required. Newer Intel GPUs perform better with the built-in modesetting driver.

No joy either. I’d already tried purging the cache.
Ironically, I cannot upgrade archlinux-keyringer…because of an outdated keyringer (if that’s the issue). Maybe the solution lies there?

  1. How did you get the OS state, which you mentioned in your initial post?
Installed Manjaro from a long time ago, but previously tested ISO build from 2018 year, or did not update your a long time ago installed OS for some time (how long?)?

  2. What’s the output of

pacman -Qi archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring pacman pamac pacman-mirrors | grep -iE "name|version|date|validated"
  1. How did you try

and it’s second step:

2. Reinstall keyrings including the latest keys:
sudo pacman -Sy gnupg archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring

with result:

but later you wrote:

So previously you did it, and a bit later can’t?

I’ve fallen behind with updates. Maybe 3-4 weeks without updating. Originally I installed Manjaro on this machine more than a year ago.

OK, I tried to reproduce the Pacman troubleshooting - Manjaro instruction from step 1 and on step 2 got the same issue as OP have.
Now 2 people has the issue

I think that the instruction has the issue

How we can install any new package, for example

sudo pacman -Sy gnupg archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring

If we removed all local keys by

sudo rm -r /etc/pacman.d/gnupg

than we made a package manager to be unable to validate any further packages.

@saintjules , I was able to resurrect keyring issue by skipping the second step and to get some core keys import via direct connection from Internet during step 4.

Try next:
1st step.
3rd-6th steps (note that 4th step could be really long (several minutes)).

But after that re-do action in the instruction again, but start from step 2 and redo the next 3-6 steps again.

Perhaps my suggestion is overkill in some points (it is the subject to review by others), but it works and I shared the working temporary issue fix fast.

Please let us know how went your keyring issue fix, were you able to update OS after it

sudo pacman -Syyu

I opened a separate thread for that Possible issue of keyring renew algorithm

I guess the mirror has the issue.
Try to switch other mirror:
sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu

Check status of Manjaro repos:

I keep getting errors, even with your revised sequence of steps.

Perhaps it is ok: I got them also, but I was able to proceed with the packages installation.

Were you able to install the

sudo pacman -Sy gnupg archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring

now?

Same result.
Further info: I’m on the stable branch.

No, same errors I posted above

error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

That’s because you already have the trust level of 4 for the keys, bacause you did not removed the keys (sudo rm -r /etc/pacman.d/gnupg) earlier.

@saintjules , try this: Possible issue of keyring renew algorithm - #4 by alven and please post every commant output.

No, you do not need change the trust level. That is right default like my output. But I have no issue. :man_shrugging:

The issue is a bit deeper, I still can’t figure out the exact source.

@saintjules , to conclude:
By the Pacman troubleshooting - Manjaro instruction you did the steps 1, 3-6 and then step 2 of

sudo pacman -Sy gnupg archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring

was with error messages and was not complete successfully, right?

May be you have firewall on PC or router, which prevents you some connections? If have, do not turn it off, wait for other community members suggestions.

I feel the need to call qualified help of @Manjaro-Team : the issue is more than a day old and regulars participated here perhaps somewhere close, but still can’t help to fix it, but every package installation for the PC is blocked.

  • Two packages were probably hacked in the mirror repository or during the transfer, so they are untrusted after verification.

Or

  • These packages are probably not correct in the some mirror repository.

Yep, your summary is accurate.

No firewall in place.

I also want to thank you guys for all the support you’re trying to give me, that’s highly appreciated!
