Unable to transfer files using Bluetooth

I successfully paired with my phone and had to install pulseaudio-bluetooth to get a connection working, but now I can. Playing music on my phone while connected does result in my machine’s speakers being utilised. So the connection works.

But I am unable to transfer files either ways. So, upon inspecting daemon.log, I came across this bit:

Apr 25 22:24:13 localhost bluetoothd[3765]: Can't open input device: No such file or directory (2)
Apr 25 22:24:13 localhost bluetoothd[3765]: AVRCP: failed to init uinput for ab:cd:ef:gh:ij:kl

And according to this section in the Gentoo wiki, this is due to a missing uinput kernel module. How do I fix this?

do in a consol

/usr/lib/bluetooth/obexd &

then try again

Check your
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.bluez.obex.service
and
/usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.bluez.service
files. If they point to some /usr/bin/false stuff, change their contents so they look like

[D-BUS Service]
Name=org.bluez.obex
Exec=/usr/lib/bluetooth/obexd
SystemdService=dbus-org.bluez.obex.service

and

[D-BUS Service]
Name=org.bluez
Exec=/usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd
User=root
SystemdService=dbus-org.bluez.service

respectively.
Had had quite a hard time with BT transfer service also (which simply couldn’t be started), until found these.
