Unable to reinstall from USB, stuck at "GRUB _"

Hello all,

I previously used the Manjaro Architect to install just CLI Manjaro on my x220. I used DWM on top of this

Now, when using a USB to install Manjaro with XFCE, the laptop get’s stuck with the prompt “GRUB _” without the ability to type anything. I have tried switching the startup from UEFI to Legacy without any luck. The same USB works fine on my desktop when trying to install Manjaro XFCE. I have also checked the boot order to make sure the laptop boots from the USB before the SSD

I’m trying to understand what Grub is doing and why it’s loading when I’m just trying to boot from a USB?

open a terminal

sudo manjaro-chroot -a ( type 1 if only one line 0 appears )
grub-install --recheck --verbose /dev/sda
exit ( quit chroot )

reboot and press F2 or F8 or F12 for bios
and select manjaro boot
