Unable to get graphical display

Since yesterday evening, my graphical environment won’t start any more.

After boot, I get a 'starting version 249.7-2 Manjaro ’ prompt - then a black screen.
I can however with ctrl-alt-Fx start a console window, and there everything seems to be running (I see e.g. a /usr/lib/Xorg process running), but on the console where the graphical environment should be running I only have a black screen. In fact, my monitor starts searching for an input signal.

Now I have on this computer 3 partitions - 2 Manjaro, 1 Windows. And I have a bootable USB stick. ALL of them either present a black screen, or garbage. Which of course suggests that I’m dealing with a hardware problem.

Looking at the Xorg.0.log file, the ‘No enabled display devices found’ message sounds like my video card doesn’t detect that a monitor is attached - even while I’m reading that file on that monitor.

But before running to a store and spending a nice sum of money, what can I do to find out (or better yet, fix …)

you tried to install with the original nvidia-driver, but this driver does not support older cards anymore. you can try to install with the alternative nouveau-driver instead. to buy a new card in these days is the last thing you wish these days, pricing is absurd.

If you can’t boot into win or manjaro I would say it’s something hardware related.Your graphic card does support the 470 series driver.

Tried the nouveau driver, but that isn’t any better. And as straycat mentions, it is supported (it was working until yesterday).

Found an affordable and available new videocard. Problem solved.
