Unable to connect to the internet via wired connection

Hello,

For the past few weeks, I have been unable to connect to the internet using a wired connection on my Lenovo T14s (1st gen).

I have tried everything: Using the previous LTS kernel (5.15 I believe), changing from r8169 to r8168, rebooting, etc.

I checked with other computers in my office, so it certainly is a problem of mine. I can access the internet through Wifi.

The output of inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width is:

Please help.

Hi @sync0, and welcome!

I really, really hope I’m wrong. But it sounds like a hardware problem. Either a cable, or the NIC sounds broken to me.

Try with another cable that you know is working. If that doesn’t work, try from a Live environment.

If they work, it might be routing, or some kind of firewall…but now it’s a process of elimination.

Thank you very much for your response. You were right, it was a hardware problem. It turns out that the USB-C multi-adapter I was using to connect to my external monitor and to the internet, for whatever reason, stopped working for the ethernet. I tried a different adapter (since my laptop doesn’t have an ethernet port), and the internet was working again.

Welp, that was an easy one .

Glad you are good to go now, though.
