Unable to boot Manjaro kernel 4.19 - Kernel panic

Ok. That explains it.
Why that would be the case for him I don’t know.
I guess that is what he wants to know.
I certainly do not know.

It’s not the case for me with all default settings -
For my two kernels I get:

file /boot/initramfs*.img
/boot/initramfs-5.15-x86_64.img: gzip compressed data, from Unix, original size modulo 2^32 25507840
/boot/initramfs-6.6-x86_64.img: gzip compressed data, from Unix, original size modulo 2^32 27320320

I disabled the creation of the fallback images …

Probably because he is on testing or unstable and you are on stable with older mkinitcpio.

I am using cat, because with a compressing file system (btrfs) you don’t have to compress the images twice :footprints:

You are correct …
I forgot to detail that I am using the pacman “testing” branch …
Also using the ext4 filesystem for the “/” partition .

So as I as far understand in the new mkinitcpio changed some steps on the initramfs creation …

Again thanks for the clarification.
