Trying to install drivers for TP-Link TL-WN725N

Brand new Manjaro user here guys so please excuse my ignorance. I have searched the forum for similar posts and am still stuck. I am trying to install the Tp-Link TL-WN725N wifi adapter and can not figure out how to download the drivers. The installation manual has directions for Ubuntu but I can’t figure out how to download these and activate it through manjaro.
I appreciate any help
Thanks
Andy

In order for anyone to provide you with assistance, you will need to post an inxi output here as the proper chipset for that adapter will need to be identified to find the driver. Sometimes manufacturers change the chipset for a particular model as well. Please read:

CPU: Dual Core Intel Core i5-3320M (-MT MCP-) speed/min/max: 1499/1200/3300 MHz

So I finally got the driver installed but still am unable to activate it

What about this? Found it searching for WN725N:

Sorry, try again. What does your CPU have to do with your network adapter? Please refer to the link you were provided above.

For good measure, please also post the output of lsusb with the formatting guidelines provided above.

Great. What did you do? What instructions did you follow?

I posted the CPU information due to a direct request to post my inxi output. What instructions did I follow? After 5,000,000 you tube videos I finally found one that walked me through step by step the driver update and it finally worked.
Here is the lsusb info, and as you can see Bus003 Device002 it is there with the correct driver, now to just get it activated, I will check out the link you provided above, thank you.

Please don’t be obtuse. Help use help you. Again, no one asked for CPU information. This is specifically what would be helpful from the link posted above.

Copy-paste the following:

inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

According to:

The device is supported by kernel versions 3.12 and newer according to the LKDDb

The device is supported by the following additional drivers:

It’s possible 8188eu-dkms in the AUR (Arch User Repository) may work if it doesn’t out of the box with the kernel drivers.

Wow…ok … But …what is this then?

Listen Yo, I’m sorry dude but as a first day user I really don’t appreciate being called names. Give me a bit of a break it’s literally my 3’rd day ever touching Linux. Feel free to ignore my posts and go make someone else feel like shit!

No one called you names. I asked you politely to not behave in a certain way. No one is here to make you feel bad. We’re here to help, however you also have to be willing to participate so we can.

Take a break and go outside or something, relax. Come back and read the info and try again later.

Let me try this again. I have gotten the drivers installed but still can’t activate the wifi adapter. Following the link above I am no stuck on

$checkdmesg | grep rtl8xxxu
bash: checkdmesg: command not found

sudo dmesg | grep rtl8xxxu

try this as well in terminal, to see if the adapter is blocked:
rfkill list

Have you tried a different kernel? Maybe 5.4 LTS.

Thanks Richard
No results with sudo dmesg | grep rtl8xxxu
rfkill list seems fine…only thing hard blocked is bluetooth which doesn’t matter

Let me do some reading before changing kernel as I do not know what this entails i did originally have a problem when I did this:
$dmesg | grep firmware
But I worked it out

You didn’t indicate which driver that you installed or a proper inxi output, so I am guessing you won’t get much help here.

I tried using the 5.4LTS kernel and it didn’t even show the device so I switched back to 5.10

I thought that the above was all that was relevant out of the inxi output, I hesitated to put the whole thing here because I got yelled at for putting irrelevant information here before and I don’t want to appear “obtuse” lol

Does the laptop’s Intel 6205 wifi work? It is listed as “state:up”. So, I think the issue is how to make the system recognize the wifi device that you want. maybe this thread is helpful:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=179683

You may need to blacklist the iwlwifi driver

The laptop’s 6205 does indeed work.
Following the article you sent me above when I try to run
etc/netctl/examples/wireless-wpa I get command not found, same if I run sudo etc/netctl/examples/wireless-wpa
Sorry I know I am probably missing some very basic stuff here and doing something wrong. I also worry about blacklisting the iwlwifi driver until I know the other one is going to work, thus leaving me with no internet connection

the blacklist file is just a simple .conf file that you create and then reboot. If it does not work, you delete that .conf file and reboot and you are back to where you started. You might be able to disable the internal wifi in the UEFI/BIOS as well. Another possibility is that you need to disable MAC Address Randomization (Google Search), in addition to iwlwifi blacklist.
