Ultrawide display (3440x1440) + DisplayPort do not display image

So i have multi monitor setup: 3440x1440(LC34G55T)+1920x1080(ED242QR A).

First:All works perfectly on windows, so problem is not in monitors/cables.

My PC:

  1. GPU:GTX1070 Strix
  2. CPU:Ryzen 5 3600
  3. MoBo:MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX
  4. Display1:3440x1440(LC34G55T)(Main)
  5. Display2:1920x1080(ED242QR A)(Second).

PROBLEM:My main display don’t work while it is connected thru DP.
Looks simple - problem in the display or DP, but if I connect it with HDMI it works! , so all good problem in DP, but if I connect my second with the same DP (even without reload or anything, just hot plug) it works.

Behavior: When main display is connected second display is lagging/refreshing time to time, I believe it is caused by main constantly reconnecting (it indicated in “Display Configuration”).

Main points:
Second display works with DP and HDMI. Main display works only with HDMI.

  • On Windows main display works with DP without problem.

NOTE: I had some problem with BIOS video output thru display, but it looks it’s a common cause on my MB, I did (can’t paste links) (set BIOS to CSM mode)

NOTE2:Next data collected with main connected to HDMI and second to DP.
So I have multi monitor setup: 3440x1440 (LC34G55T) +1920x1080 (ED242QR A).

Why are you using the nouveau driver you need a nvidia one?

Your inxi shows the GPU driver in use is the opensource nouveau driver.

This works fine for Nvidia cards < 1000 - but not optimal for the newer cards.

To use the proprietary Nvidia driver

sudo mhwd -i pci video-nvidia

If your system - after restart - is still using the opensoure driver you remove it - and restart the system

sudo mhwd -r pci video-linux

As you are using X11 - this is just a precautionary comment if you intend to use Wayland with Nvidia as it may require special attention - please consult

You can switch from the login screen - default is lower left corner - which system to use Wayland or X11.

Another option is to switch to unstable branch and do a full system sync to use the newer Nvidia 535.x driver

sudo pacman-mirrors -aS unstable && sudo pacman -Syyu
1 Like

This helped.

Thank you very much!!!

And thanks for information about Wayland!
