Manjaro Linux runs fine, but occasionally mouse and keyboard stop working while OS continues running

Hi, this has been a long-term issue (>1year), just not frequent enough to ask about.
I’ll be using the computer normally, office applications or games, until the mouse randomly stops working for a few seconds. I can tell the computer is still running normally because in the games, the simulation is still proceeding at normal speed and can be interacted with again after a few seconds, but this doesn’t only occur in games. The keyboard also freezing/not inputting is a new bug from the last few weeks.

Simliar freezing topics talk about the entire OS freezing so no help from googling.
Any tips on how to fix this? Haven’t swapped my mobo yet, but tried swapping the mouse allready.

One thing to try is to change kernels. Have a look at the list & try another to see If the problem continues.

Settings / Manjaro settings manager / Kernel.

Hmm, thank you. This has been happening for long enough I’ll have been through multiple kernels, but I never noticed if it didn’t happen with a specific one. I’ll go from 5.13.5-1 to 5.12.19-1 for now.

I see you use Logitech Unifying Receiver. Me, too.

I had constant drop out, jerking, unresponsive mouse. The LUR was plugged into the case front panel USB port. I took it out and placed it into one of the direct motherboard USB ports in the back of the case. BINGO! Works like buddha now.

This is likely unrelated to your problem, but I highly suggest updating your bios, it’s years out of date. This is your latest stable bios: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/BIOS/TUF-GAMING-X570-PLUS-WIFI-ASUS-4002.ZIP

Well, good suggestions all, as I’d forgotten my keyboard and mouse were going through my monitor, then to my computer for easier cabling. And looking at the mobo bios patch notes, I see “Fix USB connectivity issue”" on a patchnote near the top.

Similar problem happen to me after installing some devtool. Mouse left click not working properly. What I found was Mouse and Touchpad setting misconfigured.

I change Buttons and Feedback from Right-handed to Left-handed.

Problem solved.
