Since 13 January 2026 Thunderbird 147 is published.
Not in any repo – not even version 146 was published by arch.
The Versions published by “KAOS Linux” works in Manjaro, BUT I do not trust…
There is always the official flatpak version available.
Arch skipped Thunderbird v146 due to missing signatures in upstream. The missing signatures have been reintroduced with v147. Arch developers are now in the process of getting the new package ready,
While out of band applications may work. Bitter experience (from when I was a noob), taught me, never to do that again. There can be all sorts of issues with libraries and versioning, that are not apparent at the time.
arrrgg. found out just now when I have updated first my Fedora system and now the Manajro system on my dual boot set up.
In order to have a common and always up to date email inbox, both systems share the same thunderbird profile folder on my /data partition.
while Fedora updates to 147, now my Manjaro Thunderbird complains that the profile belongs to a newer version and will not open it… never had that before, I guess its because in 147 Mozilla worked on the internal profile data structure along with all these other changes…
Therefor I use the Flatpack esr version now.
I installed it directly from Mozilla. It’s fine.
Thunderbird 147.0-1 was released to Arch Extra-Testing repository today
