The pointer moves by itself

Hello guys
I have a problem with the mouse, in practice it moves on its own, even turning off the mouse the pointer moves on its own, the touchpad instead doesn't work at all.
Do you have any advice?

Buy a mouse mat or a new mouse.

Try cleaning the lens of the laser diode on your mouse. A spec of dust there could cause this.

I had exactly that problem, and thought I was going crazy there for a while. But after much googling, I remembered that I actually had two mouses connected. One them was resting on the sofa, and the laser reacted to the textile texture.

Which is to say I'd look for a solution in this order. It is amazing how we often overlook small things:

-physical explanation, such as conlicting setup or hardware failure.
-software explanation, seems unlikely but weird stuff happen
-psychological explanation, also seems unlikely

If you have a laptop with one of those track points between the g-h-b keys on the keyboard it could be a breadcrumb or some other small particle that slightly tilts it.
