#1

The main thing of note in this update set is everything.

Everything is updated.

There’s nearly 8000 updated packages.

Have fun.

Oh, kernel 4.19 is here too.

Current difference to x32-stable

This thread will track updates to x32-testing as they are snapped over from x32-unstable
This post has a full difference to x32-stable, updates will be posted below as they occur.

Full list is here.

Any problems?

  • No issues, everything went smoothly
  • Yes there was an issue. I was able to resolve it myself. (Please post your solution)
  • Yes I am currently experiencing an issue due to the update. (Please post about it)

Is x32-testing ready to be moved to x32-stable?

This will inform the snap process; there is no set threshold.

Please vote on the “is it ready yet?” poll but only when you feel this set is tested enough, and has a sufficient number of changes compared to x32-stable. Do keep in mind that x32-stable updates should be less frequent than x32-testing so not every testing update set should need to be moved over.

  • No or Not yet
  • Yes, x32-testing should be snapped to x32-stable at this point

[Unstable Update i686] 2018-10-23 to 25 - Pretty Much Everything™
#2

Known issues

KDE is mainly broken due to a mix of package builds. There are a number of KDE packages currently in arch32 staging which are needed to allow other KDE things to work and be built.

If you’re on KDE, stay on x32-stable for the moment.

FFMPEG and x265 are no longer conflicting

For now, add IgnorePkg = x265 to /etc/pacman.conf

These steps should get you the rebuilt FFMPEG package:

sudo rm /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ffmpeg-1:4.1-1.1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
sudo pacman -Syu
sudo pacman -S ffmpeg

Resolved issues

Manjaro Settings Manager is broken pending a rebuild on the KDE packages. It is preventing an update to icu=63, so remove MSM for the moment. MSM is fixed (for now?).

#3

To-do

Nothing?

#4

#5

Here goes nothing … 681 packages downloading now …

#6

I’ve tried all of them:

linux316 3.16.59
linux318 3.18.124
linux44 4.4.162
linux49 4.9.135
linux414 4.14.78
linux419 4.19

but I can’t see the manjaro login screen, all I can see is the cursor

something must be wrong maybe it’s Display Manager issue I don’t know

I’d be grateful if you could help me:

Have you all packages synced to testing branch. Maybe it’s too early to upgrade ?

pacman -Syu --ignore boost-libs
is a temporary solution.

Hello,
after the mega update I have a problem with evolution:

What can I do?
Thank you…

I have the same sddm problem as described by @sueridgepipe

Also LibreOffice fresh does not start because the boost-libs are at 1.68 but LibreOffice is still built against 1.67.
Strange thing: boost/boost-libs are not listed in the dependency list for the package “libreoffice-fresh”

#14

I’ll have a look at boost-libs, might be a good idea to overlay 1.67 if that’s what everything is built against:

even with the older boost-libs 1.67 libreoffice-fresh does not start.

If I install boost-libs 1.67 I get
/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.68.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

If I install boost-libs 1.68 I get
/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_locale.so.1.67.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

So somehow parts of libreoffice-fresh seem to be built against version 1.67 and others against 1.68

#16

I’ve switched boost to 1.68 in x32-unstable, could you change branches to see if it helps?

#17

on “testing” branch, downgrade of boost-libs broke the package “libreoffice” - it was working well with boost-libs 1.68

#18

That appears to contradict what @osukosuk said above…

So, is LibreOffice working or not?

#19

I’m currently on the x32-unstable branch.
Libreoffice still fails with boost-libs 1.68 installed
Strange that it works for @aliemjay

#20

Can you please post the output when starting LibreOffice with boost and boost-libs 1.68?
