[Testing Update] 2024-09-13 - Kernel, Qemu, Systemd, Plasma, KDE Gear, Virtualbox

With the current state of the testing branch my external monitor only offers 30Hz instead of 60Hz inside the KDE display settings… Not sure where to start looking

  • Monitor connected via usb-c to docking station and then via display port to monitor
  • Worked with previous plasma 6.1.4 state of testing
  • Used the same hw setup before

yesterday I’ve temporarily switched to testing for have a look at plasma 6.1.5 and kernel 6.11

on updating there was a message regarding a .pacsave file

[ALPM] warning: /boot/grub/grub.cfg saved as /boot/grub/grub.cfg.pacsave

when looking in that folder there is not a .pacsave but a grub.cfg.pacnew …
with inside

#
# AN EMPTY FILE NEEDED BY PACMAN
#

if I run

DIFFPROG=meld pacdiff -s

nothing is coming out (meld is not opening). Is it normal or am I the only one?

Just delete it. grub.cfg should not be touched. It’s created by update-grub (aka grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg) in Manjaro.

Do these preview ISOs not include .sig files?

I’ve added a wiki post about a workaround for “KDE Plasma hangs on Shutdown, Restart and Logout” because of the new session saving feature.

There’s also a bug where if we disable session auto login for X11, restart then re-enable it, it doesn’t work anymore. A workaround is to edit the /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf file and replace Session=Plasma (X11) by Session=plasma
I’ve added it to the wiki too.
