[Testing Update] 2022-10-10 - Pipewire, Haskell, Python, Firefox, Thunderbird, GlibC

KDE, 6.0, Z390 ASUS mobo. DE freezes up when clicking Audio icon in System Tray (icon has red slash indicating audio device(s) not found). Removed System Tray to make DE responsive. Volume Up/Down not working from keyboard media keys.

Audio does work, tho, as tested through System Settings > Audio. It appears to be the only way to change the volume and output device. Nothing appears amiss in alsamixer. Audio plays in Firefox/YouTube, mpv Media Player, Elisa, Thunderbird notifications and Windows games via Proton.

Re-added System Tray, seems to be behaving and media keys are responsive… going to restart to see how it goes.

EDIT: Restarting, log out/in, same panel freeze/restart. It kicks in after 20 seconds or so. Latte-dock is perfectly responsive during this time, just not the panel. Hope to update…

EDIT 2: Okay journalctl -f is spamming with a whole lot of;

kalendarac[5139]: org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Unable to deserialize payload part: "RFC822" in item 210 collection 19
kalendarac[5139]: org.kde.pim.akonadicore:  payload data was:  "BEGIN:VCALENDAR\nPRODID:-//K Desktop Environment//NONSGML libkcal 4.3//EN\nVERSION:2.0\nX-KDE-ICAL-IMPLEMENTATION-VERSION:1.0

etc etc

kalendarac[5139]: parse error from icalcomponent_new_from_string. string= "BEGIN:VCALENDAR\nPRODID:-//K Desktop Environment//NONSGML libkcal 4.3//EN\nVERSION:2.0\nX-KDE-ICAL-IMPLEMENTATION-VERSION:1.0

etc etc :man_shrugging:t4:

I understand that this isn’t an audio issue, but I’m wondering if this could be the root cause of the audio interface aspects of the DE choking up.

EDIT 3: I could be wrong but, looking through what got updated, I feel a lot of the errors point to the libical 3.0.15-1 update.
