[Testing Update] 2021-02-24 - Kernels, Plasma 5.21.1, Frameworks 5.79, Firefox, Thunderbird, Python

I believe @bogdancovaciu created that theme and might be of help there.

Updated some stuff

Not quite a creation, but slight modifications to an existent one …

Plasma and framework update went fine. No bigger issues and only small regressions. It’s a solid and stable release, so there is no need of withholding it for too long into stable.

See my opinion in details:

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/plasma-5-21-first-impressions-unstable-branch/54511

I have only tried UFW, but I am having issues with plasma-firewall using a standard user, if I try to change anything it does not ask for an admin password, so no changes are made. The only time it asks for an admin password is enabling and disabling the firewall.

The only issue I have recently is an odd behaviour of udisk’s naming of my SSD. Usually it was Samsung_SSD_850_EVO_M_2e2_500GB_%serialnumber% but suddenly became
Samsungx20SSDx20850x20EVOx20M_2e2x20500GBx20x20x20x20x20x20 x20x20x20x20x20_%serialnumber%, even in apps like Gnome Disks. Then it turned back to normal. Weird…

@bogdancovaciu Speaking of Breath2, with the introduction of the complete redesign of Kickoff (the default application menu), a little bug with the theme appeared. Nothing extremely major, just a little bit of cosmetic adjustment would be needed.

The user’s name is not readable, being black instead of white (which is the color I kind of expect). Here’s the comparison with Breeze Twilight.

EDIT: Mmh, notification titles seem to be affected by a similar problem too, perhaps with the same root cause? You can barely read “Network Management”.

Thanks, I also saw this.

Seems to happen on first launch of Pamac after boot.

@koshikas can you confirm?

Recently updated, so far no issues and everything run smoothly.

I also experience issue with pipewire. My system can’t find any audio devices. pactl info show Connection failure: Connection refused

EDIT

Removing /etc/pipewire/pipewire.conf and renaming /etc/pipewire/pipewire.conf.pacnew to pipewire.conf solved my issue. I belive it was created during last update. There are settings for pipewire 3.22 included.

No issues here. New 511 kernel installed.

Seems like latest nvidia-utils and kernel linux510 (5.10.18) are causing a problem with power management, the card is powered on all the time. I’ll test more and report back.

Also, iwd/networkmanager is unable to connect automatically to a wifi network, and a message on journal says iwd[567]: Unexpected connection related event -- is another supplicant running?

I checked if wpa_supplicant was running since I remember disabling it, it was, I disabled it, and rebooted, I checked again and wpa_supplicant is now inactive and still the same message on iwd journal. Seems like a bug on iwd.

Will look into it. Thanks!

Update: I honestly can’t reproduce the issue, regardless. Would you mind to check again your settings?

I must admit that I was messing around with Global Themes a bit. But I didn’t think it would actually matter.

But I guess I was wrong, because I just changed Plasma Style from Breath2 Dark to breath2 (I don’t know why it isn’t capitalized, but whatever lol), then to Breath2 Dark again and it got magically fixed.

What the f----.

XFCE on 5.11 kernel: just updated and rebooted, no problems so far. I’ll edit if I notice anything, but looks smooth.

Laptop speakers sound better after update, but this is hard to judge. (My C940 speakers are notoriously bad with Pulseaudio, but slowly improving) I wonder if I can benchmark this somehow…

Any update or help on this rEFInd issue I posted above?

I can confirm this crash. I haven’t found anything on bugs.kde.org - do you want to report it or should i go ahead?

It seems to require registration? Go ahead, if you have an account.

433715 – krunner crashes when input contains a quote it happens with single and double quotes on my side, probably some kind of missing input sanitation? ^^
