[Testing Update] 2018-04-24 - Linux417, Cinnamon, i3, Python

update
testing

#18

I guess your new-improved version works on my machine, then – so thank you!

EDIT: One last observation. I have two Cinnamon installs, and both are now updated with the latest testing packages. Booting into both systems, Cinnamon crashes – but now, instead of going into a crash-loop, it loads on the second try in both cases.

#19

All good now. :yum:

#20

I haven’t noticed since now but gvfs-goa-1.36.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz and friends is borked, cannot connect to google drive. Reverting to version from 25 March solved issue.

#21

Seems all good here.

Manjaro_KDE_VM ~]$ uname -a
Linux Manjaro_KDE_VM 4.16.4-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Apr 24 19:21:45 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux

#22

Hi

I cannot upgrade because of this error:

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: manjaro-gnome-settings: removing manjaro-gnome-extension-settings breaks dependency 'manjaro-gnome-extension-settings'

And when I try to delete manjaro-gnome-extension-settings I get the same:

manjaro-gnome-settings: removing manjaro-gnome-extension-settings breaks dependency 'manjaro-gnome-extension-settings'

#23

Don’t use gnome personally but have you seen this?

#24

Thanks @Yorper
That did the trick. I simply had to install manjaro-gnome-assets

#25

In Cinnamon, for me also cinnamon crashes when starting, asks for cinnamon restart, if given yes works fine afterwards.

#26

This update is moving a whole bunch of config files:

[2018-04-25 06:38] [ALPM] upgraded linux-api-headers (4.14.8-1 -> 4.16.1-1)
[2018-04-25 06:38] [ALPM] warning: /etc/vconsole.conf saved as /etc/vconsole.conf.pacsave
[2018-04-25 06:38] [ALPM] warning: /etc/rc.local saved as /etc/rc.local.pacsave
[2018-04-25 06:38] [ALPM] warning: /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf saved as /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf.pacsave
[2018-04-25 06:38] [ALPM] warning: /etc/locale.conf saved as /etc/locale.conf.pacsave
[2018-04-25 06:38] [ALPM] warning: /etc/hostname saved as /etc/hostname.pacsave

This caused webserver nginx to stop working because /etc/hostname is gone, modules get not loaded because /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf is gone and rc.local is not excecuted because /etc/rc.local is gone !

What a mess. Why is this update messing with all these config files? Any reason?

#27

Just updated to kernel 4.16.4…I noticed my Samson mic appeared to revert to a non-fallback audio input device so that’s why the simple slider in the pulseaudio panel plugin doesn’t work (to mute/unmute) until you select the mic as the “fallback option” in the “input devices” tab in the audio mixer settings.

#28

Atherors AR3012 issues 1 2 still pertaining. LTS kernel 4.4, 4,9 and 4.16 is not working. For me 3.18 is working. I know it is upstream issue. Waiting for updated kernels

#29

On thing is still present in kernel 4.16 and also on 4.17 - Whatever i boot with the Pen Display connected or i turn it on after, the event16 connects and disconnects it simultaneously, making it unusable. It must be turned off and on again to get back working.

[ 2259.947] (II) event16 - Wacom Cintiq 22HD Pen: device is a tablet
[ 2259.947] (II) event16 - Wacom Cintiq 22HD Pen: device removed
[ 2259.974] (**) Option "config_info" "udev:/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-3/1-3.1/1-3.1:1.0/0003:056A:00FA.0005/input/input16/event16"

This doesn’t happen in 4.15 or 4.14 kernels, and while is not a big deal, is still a cosmetic inconvenience i was hoping to be solved.

One thing i noticed is that in /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-3/1-3.1/1-3.1:1.0/0003:056A:00FA.0005/input/ there is no input16 folder, just input17 and input19
inside input17 there is the event16 folder …

#30

No it doesn’t. Also the Gnome-Changes it doesn’t do. You’re simply in unstable on which we did some more changes.

Apparently nvidia disagrees with this update.

Edit: Happily relieved, it was false alarm!
I tried again a system upgrade and it showed me the kernel nvidia packages waiting right there.
Upgraded and rebooted and all back to normal!

#32

You are absolutely right. My mistake. Sorry.

But nevertheless, how do I have to deal with this now? can I simply copy the config files back to where they have been? What is the reason why they have been moved?

#33

With another update to Cinnamon this morning, it is still crashing after re-boot.

Here’s journalctl -b -p 3: https://pastebin.com/5efmiKcU.

And here’s .xsession-errors: https://pastebin.com/Z0vumq3R.

Hope this helps.

#34

New upstream changes to the default configs came down, so it created the pacnews/pacsaves. You have to merge your personal settings with the upstream changes.
This is just how pacman works when things like this happen.
yaourt -C
would report on all pacnew/pacsave/etc.

[aside - I started looking, swearing that I didnt have this happen, then realized youre on unstable ]

#35

I didnt know about this command. This is very handy. Thank you.

By the way, I switched back to testing. unstable was a mistake.
