Issue after kernel 5.10 update, speakers not working on laptop

Hi,

Sound issue after the 2020.12.30 update, I up date with the 5.10 kernel, sound issue.

I tried those commands with no effect after reboot

pulseaudio -k
systemctl --user restart pulseaudio.service

I continue to search a solution, thanks for your help.

So, I downgrade to the Kernel: x86_64 Linux 5.9.16-1-MANJARO, the sound works again.

Same here. Sound through headphones are ok, though. I confirm that using kernel 5.9 allows the sound to be played through the speakers, but, given that said kernel is EOL, this is a workaround at best.

Thanks for your feedback, you right, the 5.9 kernel is EOL, 6 months, I hope it will be enough to repair this 5.10 kernel bug …
We are lucky, downgrade to the 5.9 is OK.

Indeed. I remember there was a similar issue 2, 3 years ago that I managed to solve. Something to do with the switch between headphones and speakers (the headphones work on my end). Can’t recall what I did though, so I’ll have to dig in.

Interestingly, running pulseaudio -k followed by pulseaudio --start kills my keyboard, at least with kernel 5.10.
