[Testing Update] 2017-10-06 - Kernels, Mesa, Xorg-Server, PHP, Python, Haskell

Hi community,

it was an intese week for us. I had an interview (in German), worked on the Spitfire and updated most of our kernels. Guillaume added some fixes to Pamac, Stefano updated some of our themes and we synced with upstream the latest packages. This will also bring the latest Xorg-Server v1.19.4 and Mesa v17.2.2.

Please test and give us feedback as usual

Best, Philip

SDL 2.0.6 in manjaro repos

After discussion with @huluti i have change a css stylesheet for gdm theme with background-size: contain; to prevent the division of image if user use two monitor… please test if now the background show only in the first monitor… otherwise since gdm theme use a css stylesheet i’m open to ideas…

On my Gnome install, this is how it looks on dual screen. I’m not quite bothered about it because i don’t use it much …

Yep double monitor is a special configuration… i like if i can solve it but i don’t know too the css language :sweat:
If with the css property we can’t solve it we can use another background like the original background : little square in association with repeat property, the result is a unique image…

background-size: cover

EDIT: or ? 1) add bgcolor et test size

elementX {
     background-image: url(image1);	background-size: cover;
     background-color: #98887a;
      ... }
@media (min-width: 1920px)  {
	elementX {  background-image: url(image2)	}

Thank you but i have started with auto,then cover and now contain … the previous packages use cover and the image is show half at left and half on right monitor … i think i have also to change the resolution of the image but i’m not sure how approach this… image is stored in my github repo manjaro-gnome-theme…

…intel, xfce, kernel 4.13, looks good.

Run these following commands:

sudo machinectl shell gdm@
gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options

What is the output of last command? @Ste74, did you test with background-position css option? Maybe default is center center. If you didn’t please add followings to the css file.

background-size: cover ;
background-position: left top;

background-size: auto ;
background-position: left top;

No Firefox 56?

Seems not finished yet - in Unstable i get this Warning

      firefox-i18n-de  firefox-i18n-en-us

:: Möchten Sie die obengenannten Pakete bei dieser Aktualisierung überspringen? [j/N]

The language packs aren’t ready yet, as well as most or all extensions. I hope that the view essential ones will get updated though.

On the update - everything very fine for me. Thx philm and team!

Hi @jeyhunn , the key return zoom … Continue with add your two command ?

Yes please, if this doesn’t work , seems like gdm screen takes wrong coordinates of the origin, or maybe the key zoom doesn’t let it.

the output is 'zoom'

I’ll try to add those options you mentioned and report back.

@Ste74, @bogdancovaciu if this doesn’t work , set other keys instead of ‘zoom’ for dual monitor within gdm user, especially ‘spanned’ key.

@jeyhunn , @bogdancovaciu if is possible changing via key i can after install create hook to change this key …

I have no issues with the background once i’m signed in. Only when i enter my password it shows as i posted above. Once it starts the log in process the same background, for a second, is stretched 4 times on both screens, smaller than original, then i get my background that is not the same as the lock background either.
Tried your suggestions but didn’t work. For sure there will be a fix once the gnome 3.26 will get to unstable/testing … apparently will be one of this days :slight_smile:

Good update xfce 4.12. No issues to report so far

@philm Since you mentioned theming, I’ve been having a problem with the Breath theme in Manjaro KDE; see link below. The network icon is missing when I use a 4g broadband modem.
