Virtual audio cables with pulse audio

Hello ! i’ve been trying to setup virtual audio cables for streaming purposes in my manjaro install.

here is what i did

This commands do exactly what i need, issue is i need to run this everytime i restart my pc, i was wondering if there is a way for this audio sinks to be created on boot, i already tried editing my ~/.config/pulse/default.pa and my etc/pulse/default.pa to load this modules but for some reason it doesnt work, not even after a restart of the pulse audio service or the pc

Also sorry if its a bit messy this post i am still learning how to use the forum correctly

You do not need to specify pacmd before the actual command. See the pulse-cli-syntax(5) man page for more information.

Yeah i removed de pacmd when trying to edit the config files etc/pulse/default.pa and ~/.config/pulse/default.pa but it still for some reason doesn’t work even after adding it and doing pulseaudio --k and rebooting my pc it doesn’t do nothing

You can try stopping pulseaudio, and then running

pulseaudio -vvvvv

and checking the output.

It appears you didn’t properly stop pulseaudio beforehand.

which command do i run for that? pulseaudio --k restarts it automatically

I think systemctl --user stop pulseaudio.service pulseaudio.socket should work.

I was thinking on making my commands i showed above as a script that executes on boot, but i wanna do that as a last resort i would prefer if it work with changing the pulse audio files

I cannot see anything that would indicate that the configuration file is read. Can you please post the contents of /etc/pulse/daemon.conf? And can you run

strace -e openat -o /dev/stdout pulseaudio -vvvv 2>/dev/null | grep "default.pa"

and post what it prints?

Command pulseaudio -k or --kill does not restart PulseAudio, but PulseAudio can usually respawn in an altered state after being killed
This command will restart PulseAudio in the same state as system boot

systemctl --user restart pulseaudio

Use this command to check if any of the additional modules are loaded and renamed correctly in PulseAudio

I tested the first three commands to create the null sinks (with pacmd and pactl) and the modules were loaded correctly most of the time, except for when trying to set device.description with spaces in the name
The update-sink-proplist commands also failed to work with spaces and no combination of quotation marks or backslash helped, but commands would work if spaces were replaced with punctuation characters

I did not expect this behaviour as I am using update-sink-proplist in ~/.config/pulse/default.pa to rename a hardware device and never had a problem using spaces in the name

I suggest you work around this and use names without spaces
When the 3 PulseAudio sinks are added to OBS as audio sources the OBS mixer channels can be renamed to use spaces

The modules do get loaded if i create them manually, i decided to remove the update commands since what you said about obs seems like a more viable option, aside from that i still havent managed to get them working through the ~/.config/pulse/default.pa, Also thanks both of you for the help provided i really apreciated hope you guys have a great start of the year.
