System stuck at Light Display Manager start

Not sure what’s going on there, may be another issue or may just be the driver.

Have you tried 5.4?

@raycoms

I’m on the video-nvidia-430xx drivers, since those were the only drivers so far that ran fine for me. I had to roll back from 440xx a while back since those weren’t running well on my system.

Most of the nvidia drivers have been removed, due to nvidia’s shennagins, so 5.9 only has 390xx, 450xx, and 455xx. If you need 430xx you’ll have to use 5.4.

$ pacman -Ss linux59-nvidia
extra/linux59-nvidia-390xx 390.132-6 (linux59-extramodules)
    NVIDIA drivers for linux.
extra/linux59-nvidia-450xx 450.80.02-10 (linux59-extramodules)
    NVIDIA drivers for linux.
extra/linux59-nvidia-455xx 455.45.01-4 (linux59-extramodules)
    NVIDIA drivers for linux.

What’s the output of mhwd -l?

EDIT:

Dropping all legacy and older Nvidia drivers ?!?

[image] It becomes harder and harder to support the older and legacy Nvidia drivers for upcoming kernel series. Starting with 5.9 kernel series, only 450 and 455 are supported by this kernel. Older drivers simply don’t compile anymore. Out of the two, only 455 supports CUDA. If we look at Arch, they already dropped the legacy drivers completely. We would go back to a rolling driver update, and only offer the latest Nvidia driver. This might bring back the known issues, that some graphic cards …
