Swap is always helpful but your message is just a warning, I would install it even with 32 GiB memory. I don’t think it’s your problem, though.
Check, if your disk partitions are full maybe, of if certain cache folders are getting huge etc. What’s the status of baloo?

Disconnecting from the docking station, then reconnecting, solved the issue.
No idea why.
If anyone has any idea, or a direction I can check, I’d love to test the thesis.
Hopefully it might help someone else in the future.
